On the 29th of September over 50 Beavers, leaders and parent helpers from four colonies took part in the 2nd Warrington East District Beaver hike.

The day wasn’t just about hiking, we ran a silly hat competition and I’m pleased to announce that Isaac Rochford of the 3rd Warrington was the owner of the silliest hat on the day. Well done!  Following our lunch stop the Beavers and adults had a go at playing conkers. Some showed fiendish accuracy and power while others, new to the game, needed a little more practice, but everybody had a smile on their face.  Last, but not least the Beavers got to demonstrate how loud they can be! Crowded into a tunnel under the railway, and heard over a kilometre away , rang out the chant of Oggy, Oggy, Oggy. Oi! Oi! Oi! (Never too soon to practice a campfire yell)

Our young hikers completed a route of around 7km from Culcheth to Glazebury and back again. The weather was kind, but like all adventures in the great outdoors we found some mud! With only a couple losing boots stuck in the mud.

So, thank you to the 3rd & 20th for letting us use their Scout Centres, and to all the Beavers, Leaders and parents from the 3rd, 5th, 9th and 27th. Here’s looking forward to next year, hoping that even more of our Warrington East Beavers can join the fun.

Oggy, Oggy, Oggy, oi, oi, oi,
