Welcome to

A Scout Activity Support Team for paddlesports based in Warrington East District but also supporting Warrington West and primarily operating off Warrington Scout Campsite on the Bridgewater Canal.
Our aims:-
We endeavour to develop water safety and canoe skills in our young scout members. Utilising the skills achieved towards their programmed development in the Scout Association,. We support and use Paddle UK (PUK) Awards.
About Us:-
Our regular paddling sessions are held on the Bridgewater Canal. We have run these sessions every year since 2010 (with the exception of 2020 due to Covid) at Warrington District‘s Campsite and the 25th Warrington East Scout Group HQ., behind St Wilfrid’s Church, Church Lane, Grappenhall, Warrington WA4 3EP. Before 2010 we paddled for several years at Grappenhall Sports Club, we have been about a very long time!
Who is eligible:-
Groups in Warrington East and West are welcome to book paddlesport sessions with us. We meet on Tuesday evening and the ideal number for a session is 15 to 20 young members of your group, it’s recommended to share sessions if your numbers are low. The sessions tend to be taster sessions. The activities are kayaking, open canoeing and stand up paddleboarding (SUP). SUP sessions tend to be a more focused activity with smaller numbers. This year, we are also able to offer Mega SUP Board sessions i.e. 6 or more paddlers on a single board. The team owns a large number of craft and trailers.
The sessions are on Tuesday evening starting at 6.30pm in April and September and 7pm May to August. Other nights and weekends by arrangement subject to permit holders being available. Sessions for Scouts in Warrington East and West cost £4.70 a head, price held from 2024.

The Paddles Blazing Active Support Team:-
The team has a good number of permit holders some of who are recognised NGB coaches and instructors, hence we can provide PUK awards and D.of E. Award support.
We are always keen to see older Scouts and Explorers who want to attend weekly during the season – Young Leader style to build up their skills and ideally gain permits. This is quite a commitment but excellent for D.of E. Volunteering etc,
