There are some additional steps in the joining journey for Trustees, they MUST:
- Be appointed at the Annual General Meeting after taking part in an open selection process, or at regular Trustee Board meeting (if co-opted during the year)
- Sign a Trustee declaration.
- Complete Being a Trustee in Scouts learning as part of Growing Roots.
- Satisfy the Elements of the Trustee eligibility check below..
Trustees don’t need to attend a Welcome Conversation if that’s their only role..

The Elements of the Trustee Eligibility Check
There are three registers to check. If a person is listed on one or more of these registers, they’re not able to be a Trustee.
These should be carried out by a nominated member of the Trustee Board.
